Steel
Steel, which is supplied to our customers in the form of blanks, coil, tube and bars, is the primary material in motor vehicles. HTA reduces suppliers' burdens such as strict specifications, long production lead time, variations in requirements and timing and price volatility of steel by levering its Raw Materials Supply System for customers. Additionally, HTA supports new model development through the coordination of trial materials procurement. As new grades of materials are developed, HTA works with engineers and suppliers to ensure availability and timely delivery to meet the demands of customer production schedules.
Examples of Steel Applications:
- Hoods
- Door Panels
- Crankshafts
- Drive Shafts
Seventy (70) percent of the steel we procure is used by Honda suppliers to make parts that will ultimately be used in Honda products, and 30 percent is used in-house at Honda operations.
How it works:
- HTA determines how much steel will be needed by its customers - including both Honda Manufacturing and Honda's
steel parts suppliers.
- HTA consolidates the orders based on the various stringent requirements for quality Honda products and then
works with Honda-approved mills, who custom cut the steel to the appropriate size for use by HTA's customers.
- HTA then performs quality assurance checks and processes the orders, guaranteeing just-in-time delivery for its customers.
